The Nutcracker at the Fox Theatre`

Last night, Stephen took me to see the Nutcracker by the Atlanta Ballet! It was my first time at the fabulous Fox and it did not disappoint! Here are some pictures!

According to foxtheatre.org, the beguiling sky is actually a vaulted ceiling painted ultramarine blue. The twinkling stars are 11-watt bulbs fixed above three-inch crystals. The drifting clouds are produced by a special projector.

There is "mighty mo" the organ, the second largest in the country, behind Radio City Hall's organ.

Atlanta is so lucky to have the Fox Theatre! It has teetered on closing and destruction twice in its history, but Atlantans have fought to keep it! It is now a National Historic Landmark and will be preserved indefinitely. The interior was a design masterpiece by Trompe L'oeil, and features a strong Arabic influence. From the false beams, balconies, and tents to the ornate grill work hiding air conditioning and heating ducts, virtually every practical feature was disguised with artistic fantasy. According to foxtheatre.org, the Fox is irreplaceable, literally! Today it would be impossible to rebuild. It was built in the 1920s and barely made it through the Great Depression, but was locally owned and kept up. It seats almost 4,700 people and hosts 300 shows per year. The Fox Theatre was one of the earliest air conditioned buildings in the country, preceding even the White House AND it was heated by coal until 1995. Cool huh? If you haven't been to the Fox it is a must!

Afterwards, Stephen and I went next door to the Publik Draft house.  It was the perfect after show spot and has an amazing drink menu! We had some fabulous cocktails and learned alot from our extremely knowledgeable bartender.

Have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

SOLD in Inman Park

Erin and I closed on 994 Carmel Avenue yesterday in Inman Park. It was listed at $1,175,000 and we sold it for 90% of list price to our adorable buyers moving from NYC! The home is a Frank Lloyd Wright inspired home looking over Freedom Park. I hope they enjoy making this beautiful house their home!

Inman Park was Atlanta's first suburb and founded in 1890. According to Inmanpark.org, it was designed to accomodate the trolley system, and was an immediate success. It attracted Atlanta's wealthiest families, including Coca- Cola's Candler family.  In the 1960's the neighborhood took a turn for the worse and now is being revived back to the original neighborhood planner's dreams. It is a quintessential example of Urban Living and is filled with parks and running paths! Inman Park is part of the National Register of Historic Places and is now one of Atlanta's most popular neighborhoods!

Have a great Holiday season!

Chastain Horse Park

As some of you know, I love horses! I grew up showing horses and since I went to college have not ridden very much. When I do, its usually trail riding with my mom!

This is Listy, my mom's Icelandic Pony!

This is me riding BA and mom and listy in front of us!
This is a pic from home, BA and listy! BA was my first paint horse, he is 23 and we have had him 16 years now. I won lots of blue ribbons on BA!

As a Member of the Junior League of Atlanta, I volunteer at the Chastain Horse Park! Last night I attended my first volunteer shift, and I loved it! It felt so good to help out and lead the kids on the horses! It is very rewarding to help out someone in need. When we were young, my sister and I volunteered to lead horses with the special needs children. My Mom even saw a little boy take his first step at a very late age after riding horses. Horses can provide physical and emotional therapy for children with disabilities. It is also very helpful for children with learning disabilities, as it teaches patience and responsibility. It really is a wonderful experience, you can learn more here.

You can volunteer too! If you have any questions please feel free to ask me!

Atlanta Botanical Gardens Holiday Lights

Friday night Stephen and I went to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens for the Holiday Lights Tour! It was so much fun, they have S'more kits that you can buy, Christmas themed drinks at the bar, Christmas Carolers, and a beautiful tour of the Gardens with amazing lights! Here are the pics!

I got the mocha with peppermint Kahlua! Yum!

These lights changed colors to the beat of the Christmas music!

The train was so cute!

The bears in the Orchid garden.

I definitely recommend you go, it is very kid friendly and a wonderful experience! Happy holidays!!

Friday's Five

Oh wow! What a week? I have had waaay more than 5 things I am thankful for this week!

1. I am so thankful I got to spend Thanksgiving at home in Monroe, LA with my family! I had so much fun and got to see old friends. We had a day and had beautiful weather so we had turkey dinner outside on the porch.

I even got to go to my first high school football game back as an alumni! It was heart warming to see so many familiar faces :)

2. I am thankful for Stephen and getting to celebrate his birthday with him! I got him a wine cooler and my sweet parents filled it up for him!

Speaking of wine cellars I saw this beautiful one I have ever seen at Glennis Beacham's listing, 225 West Paces Ferry. Sorry Stephen, I can't get this for you... yet!

3. I am thankful for my beautiful Christmas tree! Its gorgeous! We had so much fun putting it up.

I did these bows all by myself (and 30 minutes of youtube videos on how to make a bow)

4. I am thankful for getting to go and watch the Saints play the Falcons last night, my two favorite teams!! It has been so much fun in Atlanta with the Falcons winning. Stephen and I were laughing about how we remember never standing for the games, people always sat. Let me say, thats different now! It was rowdy last night in the Georgia Dome! I am so happy for the Falcons winning season! Atlanta is rising up haha!

Oh and Luda came.

5. I am excited and thankful for getting 994 Carmel Ave under contract! Erin and I have the cutest buyers and they are so excited about moving to the Inman Park area!
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and let me know if I can ever help you with any real estate needs.
